JRD TATA Scholarship for Pilot training carries a long history. JRD TATA was the first CPL candidate and received the first commercial pilot license in Feb 1929, After that, In 1932, he started Tata Air Services with mail aircraft (mail planes are used for transporting mail and freight) and limited routes. Later, this company became Air India (1946) and started domestic flights to connect different states in India, and in 1948, it started international flights. Known as “The Father of Indian Aviation,” JRD Tata established a great legacy.
JRD Tata grew in the aviation sector through his own achievements and his contribution to the nation. He also opened the door for students who wanted to become pilots, so started a scholarship program for many courses, including Commercial Pilot Training, Simulator training, and Type Rating.

Eligibility Criteria of applicants
Only Indian students can apply for the JRD TATA Scholarship for pilot training. candidate should PASS in 12th with physics and mathematics. There is no percentage criterion. (Students who have passed with ATKT / grace marks / condoned are not eligible to apply). The marksheet of the 12th and the original fee receipt of the academic year. From one family, only two students can apply.
The student must have an identity card, an Aadhar card, and a pan card with no mistake of date of birth and name. The most priority and compulsory document is Income proof of the family. The income tax report should downloads from their official website and full report should be submit, including an acknowledgement page and a complete set of Form 16. For the Commercial Pilot’s License course, medical fitness is compulsory for the JRD TATA scholarship for pilot training. Students must clear DGCA Class 1 or Class 2 medical tests.

Two categories are the creamy layer and the non-creamy layer; both can apply for the scholarship. Sometime official trust person also visits the student’s home to understand and clarify their financial position

This grant is offered to students pursuing the pilot training course in India or overseas (approved and registered flying school). The amount given to students depends on the student’s background, performance in the selection process, and available funds in that specific year. The scholarship usually helps to cover expenses such as aircraft flying hours, simulator training, and certain course related fees. In some cases, partial support is given, while a few students may receive higher support based on need and merit. However, daily living expenses, accommodation, food, and travel are generally managed by the student, scholarship does not cover it.

How To Apply For The Selection Process
The process for applying for a JRD TATA Scholarship for Pilot Training is simple. The scholarship process is in two parts. post selection process and the final selection. All communication is done by email only.
POST SELECTION PROCESS:- Students usually start by sending an email to the trust with their basic details, and required documents, including mark sheets, fee receipt, identity proof and DGCA class 1 and class 2 certificates, study plan (course applied for).
FINAL SELECTION PROCESS:- A major part of the scholarship selection is an interview. Where students talk about their goals, their interest in aviation, and their future. Being honest and clear helps to clear the interview round. Mosely, scholarship dates are coming in March of every year.
