Southwest Adds Las Vegas-Rochester to Route Network
Southwest Airlines, a major player in the aviation industry, has reintroduced nonstop flights between Rochester, New York and Las Vegas. This marks the return of direct service between the two cities after a hiatus of several years. With Southwest’s extensive network at Harry Reid International Airport, travelers can now enjoy seamless connectivity to Las Vegas from Rochester.
The airline has established a new connection between Rochester, New York, and Las Vegas, Nevada, with flights operating between the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport and the Harry Reid International Airport.
Southwest Connects: Las Vegas to Rochester
Southwest Airlines launched its new Las Vegas-Rochester route on October 3, operating four flights per week on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The airline employs a 175-seat Boeing 737-8 (MAX 8) aircraft for these flights, increasing the weekly seat capacity between the two cities by over 500.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello praised Southwest’s decision to connect Rochester and Las Vegas with a new direct flight, emphasizing that Rochester was the largest domestic market without direct service to Las Vegas, and Las Vegas was a top-requested destination from Rochester.
Southwest Airlines is the leading airline at Harry Reid International Airport, operating approximately 260 daily flights to over 70 destinations domestically and internationally. The airline also offers direct service to Baltimore, Orlando, and Tampa from the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport.
Southwest Airlines has expanded its operations in the region by launching the Las Vegas-Rochester route, complementing its existing nonstop flights from Rochester to Baltimore, Orlando, and Tampa.
The new Las Vegas-Rochester route enhances the connectivity between the two cities, providing greater access to West Coast destinations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Seattle. This new route demonstrates the airline’s strategic commitment to leisure travel and network optimization.
With a fleet of 818 Boeing 737 aircraft, Southwest Airlines serves 121 destinations across the United States and ten other countries. The addition of the Las Vegas-Rochester route strengthens the connectivity of the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport, the region’s primary airport.
